About us

A simpler way for Sylhet families to buy well

Family Group Buy BD started from a small observation: the price a family pays for rice, oil or pulses has less to do with what they buy than with how much they can buy at once. We exist to close that gap for ordinary households.

Why we started

Wholesale pricing was never built for one family

Wholesalers price by volume. A shop buying fifty sacks pays one rate; a household buying one sack pays another, often considerably more for exactly the same product. That difference is not a discount the shop earned — it is simply the cost of ordering alone.

Families in Sylhet have always worked around this informally. Relatives split a bulk order. Neighbours share a delivery. It works, but it runs on group chats, mental arithmetic and someone volunteering to chase everybody for money.

We are building Family Group Buy BD to make that arrangement dependable: clear prices agreed up front, a fair split everyone can see, and one person responsible for getting it right — us.

Our parent organisation

Family Group Buy BD is the Grocery venture of Our Business Club

Our Business Club was founded on a single question: when a family spends thousands of taka on groceries every month, why can they not share in the economic strength that spending creates? Family Group Buy BD is the first venture built to answer it. Other ventures — agriculture, dairy, poultry and more — are planned on the same principles.

Our mission

Make bulk pricing available to every household

To give families in Sylhet the buying power that until now only shops and large buyers had, by organising them into groups that reach wholesale quantities together.

  • Real savings, not marketing

Every group buy shows the unit price and each family's share before anyone commits. The saving is the difference between the retail price and what the group actually pays.

  • Fair by construction

Costs are split in proportion to what each family takes. Nobody subsidises anybody else, and no margin is hidden inside the numbers.

  • Simple enough to actually use

Joining a group buy should take a message, not a spreadsheet. We handle the supplier, the quantities and the logistics.

Our vision

Neighbourhood buying power, everywhere in Bangladesh

We want group buying to become an ordinary part of how households shop — starting in Sylhet, and extending to any community willing to organise itself.

  • Deep before wide

We would rather serve Sylhet properly than spread thinly across the country. Expansion follows reliability, not the other way around.

  • Built on trust, not volume

Long-term relationships with vetted local suppliers give families consistent quality. Cheapest is not the same as best value.

  • A platform families run themselves

In time, any group of neighbours should be able to open a group buy, invite others, and track it to delivery without waiting on us.

Where we are

Our progress so far

We are early, and we would rather be straightforward about that than imply more than exists. This is an honest account of what is done, what we are working on now, and what comes next.

  1. The idea

    Done

    A recurring problem, noticed properly

Watching families in Sylhet repeatedly organise informal bulk orders — and repeatedly struggle with the coordination — convinced us there was a service worth building.

  2. Foundation

    Done

Business set up and suppliers approached

We established the business in Sylhet, began building relationships with local wholesalers, and worked out how pricing and fair splitting should work in practice.

  3. Now

    In progress

    Website live, Messenger ordering open

Our company information and policies are published, and our team is coordinating group buys manually through Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, email and phone.

  4. Next

    Planned

    The group buying platform

Browse open group buys, claim your share, and watch progress toward the bulk target from your own account — instead of asking us for an update.

  5. Later

    Planned

    Online payments and order tracking

Confirm and pay for your share online, then follow the order from supplier to your neighbourhood pickup point.

Our community

A group buy is only as good as the group

This model depends on people keeping their word to one another. A share that is claimed and then abandoned does not just affect us — it can put the whole group below the bulk target. These are the principles we ask every participant to hold to, and that we hold ourselves to first.

  • We tell you the real price

Unit price, your share, and any delivery cost, stated before you commit. If wholesale prices move before we order, we tell you and let you withdraw rather than quietly charging more.

  • Your commitment counts

When you confirm a share, others are relying on it to reach the target. We ask you to withdraw early if plans change, so the group has time to fill the gap.

  • Everyone's details stay private

Other members can see the name you use and the quantity you claimed. Your phone number, email and home address are never shared with the group.

  • Problems get sorted, not argued

If goods arrive short, damaged or wrong, tell us and we refund or replace. We would always rather fix a problem directly than have you chase a supplier.

We are a small team in Sylhet, and at this stage you will usually be talking to the same people who organise the orders and check the goods on arrival.

Start a group buy in your neighbourhood

Tell us your area in Sylhet and what your family buys most often. If enough households nearby want the same thing, we will organise it.
